Taronga’s Sun Bears were rescued from the restaurant trade in Cambodia in 1997 by Australian businessman John Stevens.
Taronga Zoo Education inspires people of all ages to make a personal contribution to conservation. Through formal education and community programs, we aim to engage and positively influence attitudes to wildlife, encouraging positive behaviour changes towards protecting the environment and wildlife.
Our Education team provide quality learning experiences and unique wildlife encounters for a wide range of people through curriculum based education programs and workshops, Indigenous education programs, sleep over and holiday programs, professional development opportunities and Outreach.
Zoo Adventures is a thrilling educational holiday program which takes children on an amazing zoo adventure. Each day has a different theme which includes incredible behind the scenes experiences, hands-on animal encounters, art and craft and educational activities and games.

The new area for school excursion coaches and mini buses to set down and pick up passengers is on Bradley's Head Road between the Taronga Zoo Main Entrance & Taronga Function Centre entrance.
