A 46kg Komodo Dragon once swallowed a 41kg wild pig.
You saw the amazing birth of giraffe calf Thembi to mum Mutangi. From taking his first stumbling steps, little Thembi is now steady on his feet. Although Thembi didn't initially want to leave his mum's side, he is now becoming more confident. Thembi and Amani, another giraffe born just a month later, are good playmates and the two youngsters are regularly seen running around together in the cool of the late afternoon.
Casey has been progressing in leaps and bounds. He is now a healthy weight of around 150 kilograms and guzzles over six kilograms of fish a day. His wounds have completely healed and he has just finished moulting into his new coat. Casey is currently being trained for his move into the newest exhibit, Great Southern Oceans, where he will live with the other Leopard Seals Brooke and Sabine. Leslie Condor flies too far Leslie the Condor is now an official member of the Free Flight Bird Show. She is quickly becoming a huge star of the show, inspiring many oohs and arrhs as she gracefully glides down to stage with her huge three metre wingspan. Recently she has been experimenting with her routine, especially when the wind direction is just right. Since her three hour stint up a tree, her confidence has increased and she now has no hesitations about taking-off from a tree branch.
The Pelican was successfully released close to where it was originally found and flew beautifully across the water before settling in for a fish. A total of 1,500 orphaned or injured wildlife are cared for at the Taronga Wildlife Hospital every year.
