Giraffes have two short horns, which lie down flat at birth. Males (bulls) grow extra bony lumps on their large heads which they use to fight other bulls. They swing their necks to hit each other. This is called ‘necking’.
Visitors arriving by ferry can enter the Zoo through the Lower Entrance or take STA buses to the Main Entrance. Bus fares are not included in Zoo admission, except in Zoo Pass tickets.
Buses meet all arriving ferries and take visitors from the Main Entrance to catch departing ferries.
