What
are the requirements to become a Zoo Keeper?

Certificate III in Captive Animal
Management (or equivalent), or the ability to enrol in the course.

Knowledge and experience in captive
husbandry and exhibit design.

Knowledge of animal training and
conditioning practices.

Demonstrated customer service ethos.

Demonstrated presentation and communication
skills

Hold a current NSW Class C Drivers
Licence.

Hold or have the ability to gain a
Class A&B Firearms Licence

Other specific criteria dependent on
the role.
What
assessment methods are used by the ZPB?
Depending on the position, there are a variety of assessment
tools that the ZPB use including:

Structured interviews

Group activities
-
Presentations
-
Written and/or numeracy tests
-
Work tests (practical assessments)
These tools are often used in assessment centres and a
variety can be used at any one time.
How
long will the recruitment process take before a decision is made?
The ZPB is a
government agency is bound by legislation and regulations. Before a final
decision can be made the required pre-employment checks need to be processed.
These checks can take a minimum of two weeks to be processed. The Human
Resources Officer will keep you updated on the progress of your application.
