Taronga Western Plains Zoo's Work Experience program is for school students interested in pursuing a career in Zoo-keeping, animal care or zoo horticulture. The program is voluntary, unpaid and for school students in Years 10, 11 and 12.

One successful applicant per school will be assigned to a Zoo division for one week's duration (Monday through Friday), excluding school and public holidays.

Students and Careers Advisers are required to read the Work Experience policy.

Indigenous students

Taronga Western Plains Zoo employs an Aboriginal Education Officer who contributes to creating a welcoming and supportive learning environment for Indigenous students.

Students with special needs

Taronga Western Plains Zoo accepts students with special needs, providing any necessary support is available and students are suitable for particular Zoo work areas.
