Solitary for most of the year, Leopard Seals find each other through song. Males sing for months, while females sing only when they are ready to mate. They sing a duet, which allows the female to choose the perfect partner.
Stop, revive, survive is always the best advice on a country drive. Plan to stop for a coffee, tea or comfort break in towns along the way. The Blue Mountains are always a pleasure to stop in, and Leura, Katoomba and Blackheath have a lot to offer.
Remember that Dubbo is due west of Sydney, so if you drive in the afternoon you could have the sun in your eyes. We suggest you leave early in the morning, and take it easy in the afternoon.
And don't forget that country New South Wales can be very cold in the winter, especially in the hillier parts. This could mean ice on the roads and it definitely means that you should pack warm clothes in the winter months.
In winter (June to August) night time temperatures can drop to below zero; while in summer (December to February) it can reach as high as forty.
You should plan your wardrobe accordingly.
